Week 2 and Week 3: Induction and training programme commences

What a hectic busy 2 weeks! So as of last week i was getting used to backstage of spectacle.

These two weeks i have cohosted an intensive course for my induction covering filmmaking, Video making for marketing, social research and anthropology where i got a deeper insight how spectacle work on the projects.

As a cohost, my main responsibility was to make sure everyone was signed and enrolled into each discussion and workshop. To do this i learnt how campaign monitor is used in order to email multiple people effectively and form spreadsheets for people who have paid onto the courses. Within the course i made sure to screen share relevant images or videos that correspond to the host to keep viewers engaged. I used my knowledge i learnt from the programme on technical knowledge to understand what to display on the screen. I also needed to make sure every screening was recorded and uploaded to Vimeo with relevant titles for the viewers to have record of their course. Also i needed to keep up on admin tasks and digitalise forms that would of been used as handouts in face to face course including surveys and questionnaires.

This allowed me to deepen my knowledge on an area i felt weak within in discussing core research issues and understanding our customers problems within their research and thinking of solutions for them.

These two weeks as taught me within the industry i want to get into its so ever changing and theres always things to be learning. For instance, I’ve learnt more within the editing process of how everyone collaborates as assistant editor, offing and online editor and the value of how organisation within bins is so important. As a media student, i have never heard of participatory videos before and it was interesting to see how spectacle use this in their productions as well as customers using this form within their research. I’ve understood if i want to ever research a community.

Cannot believe 3 weeks have already gone by ! My induction is over and I’m ready to dig in further. This induction has really taught me how the company has adapted to being online even in the creative industry!
